The majority of our sites built in WordPress use Advanced Custom Fields Pro (ACF) – if you are not aware of this plugin check it out, in our opinion it is the best plugin for WordPress (advancedcustomfields.com/pro/).
ACF has a feature called ‘Flexible Content’ – this allows the developer to build/specify different layout’s using other ACF’s – so essentially make the client a page builder.
When assigned to a page, the client can then choose from these layouts, and build their page – adding in different layout blocks, reordering, duplicating and omitting whatever they feel necessary.
This gives great flexibility for the client, but not too much (like others such as Visual Composer offer) as each block has been designed and built by the designer/developer.
